Crowthorn- The HistoryCrowthorn's history dates back to the 1800's when a wealthy mill owner bought the Wheatsheaf Inn, a run-down pub, and donated it, along with 80 acres of land and £5,000 in order to open the first National Children's Home outside London. Various buildings were erected over the years and after 130 years of caring for children and the foundation of one of the most successful charity organisations, the school closed its doors in 2002 and the buildings were sold and transformed into this unique residential development and what is arguably one of the most idyllic settings around.
